Pipeline Trail Grand Opening Ride Recap

June 28, 2025 — Fourteen riders joined TWBC on Saturday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the Pipeline Trail extension. We rolled out from Campfire Coffee in downtown Tacoma with clear skies, good energy, and a few new faces.

We encountered a surprise detour near McKinley due to ongoing construction, but the group handled it smoothly and regrouped without issue. We arrived at Orangegate Park well ahead of the scheduled festivities — just in time to relax, take some photos, and scope out the event setup.

As the crowd grew and the speeches began, the TWBC contingent gradually peeled away. Only three riders stuck around for the full round of political remarks, and by the time the ribbon was officially cut, just two of us remained to cheer it on. Still, it was great to see TWBC represented at such a significant milestone for Tacoma’s trail network!

Thanks to everyone who came out, rolled with the changes, and helped celebrate a big win for active transportation in our community.
