You probably have heard the County took down the bridge because people continued to trespass on the structure.
Good news this past month though as we heard the County Executive Director Bruce Dammeier and the County Council directed the Public Works Department to design a temporary Bridge and have it up by next Summer.
It should be an Acrow type structure that sits on the existing abutments so no special environment permitting should be required. The Acrow type structure is good for a 100 year life so the County can leave it as the new crossing.
Monies would need to be budgeted and appropriated this fall.
An Acrow bridge is similar to the older Bailey bridge used by the Army. You see one from below as you ride to and from Buckley on the elevated pathway.
This action wouldn't have happened without strong lobbying and suggestions from our club and the Foothills Rails-to-Trails Coalition.
