I cycled to Vashon with my friend who first introduced me to multi-day bicycling two decades ago with rides on the Courage Classic. Since then, he and I have ridden the AIDS LifeCycle to raise funds to fight AIDS in 2008–a biking and camping experience from San Francisco to Los Angeles (where our tent & bags were transported by trucks each day).   We have also enjoyed the Daffodil Classic ride and the Tour de Pierce.

On August 18-19, we rode our fully loaded bikes to the Pt.  Defiance ferry and rode the boat to Vashon Island. It was a 10 mile ride from there to Vashon Village, where the Alyssum Flower Farm and Camp is a short 10 minute walk from the center of town. There are three secluded campsites on the 12 acre farm, as well as a communal kitchen (with burner, sink & cooking/eating utensils) and a porta-potty.  It was a serene place to ride to and camp.
