We used to be a 501C 7 Non-Profit Organization similar to a Yacht or Garden club or even a Bike club. The late President Darrell Eslinger proposed that we change to a 501 C 3 Non-Profit Organization especially since we were funding like minded Organizations in our community.
The objectives of the club are to promote bicycling for recreation, health and transportation; to organize social and bicycle activities; to associate and cooperate with other clubs and associations to promote bicycling and foster fellowship; and to educate members and the public regarding bicycle issues and safety.
We used to have the capacity to put on three large public events and raise significant amounts to carry out our mission and objectives. Today we are trying to build membership by letting people know we support like minded organizations and put on good rides.
We support Foothills Rails to Trails Coalition and ForeverGreenTrails to get our non-motorized Trails built and connected. ForeverGreenTrails is a collaborative organization that includes jurisdictions and nonprofits like us and Foothills. You can also join up as an individual or small business. We also support Downtown On the Go, 2nd Cycle and Bikes4Kids. Downtown On the Go promotes non-motorized transportation in Tacoma thru advocacy and small events.
