President's Report for January

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year.  We hope you all had a Merry Christmas.  This month we are trying something new by combining our Board and General membership meeting on Tuesday, January 16.

We hope to get your input on our weekly ride program as well as setting dates for our Special events and camping trips.   If you would like to lead a ride or a camping trip let us know.  We would like to see several Cyclovia events not using closed roads but our local trails.

April has two events where we could use your help.  Saturday, April 13 is the annual Tacoma Sustainability Fair at University of Washington Tacoma campus.  We should have a booth possibly shared with ForeverGreen Trails.   Saturday,  April 27 is the annual Celebrate Trails Day put on by the National Rails to Trails Coalition.   We need a Volunteer to lead a Cyclovia family bike ride from the Meeker Trailhead or the Orting Trailhead.

In late August or early September, the new bridge should be open to Enumclaw so we could have a special ride to Enumclaw or incorporate the Headwaters Century ride with the bridge opening.  Your input and ideas are greatly appreciated.   One suggestion is to go to the Pie Goddess in Enumclaw and have a pie feed in the nearby park.

This year we would like to have more Pizza rides so your ideas about this will also be appreciated.

As you know, we are big supporters of Foothills Rails to Trails Coalition and ForeverGreenTrails.  You can donate $200 to Foothills and become a Trail Hero and you can donate $500 to ForeverGreenTrails to become a Legacy member.  Any amount is appreciated.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss donations thru Greater Tacoma Community Foundation,  your Estate Plan or possibly a Charitable Gift Annuity that pays you significant income.

Please get out and ride your bike when the weather is dry and the sky is blue.
