President's Report for February

Greetings Fellow members.   January has been a very dry, but cold month.   I hope you were able to get out several times.

The State Legislative Session has started.   David Wittenberg our Vice President and Tom Butler our Director of Community and Government Relations have been down to Olympia for Bicycle Lobby Day.  I was able to attend the annual Foothills Rails to Trails Coalition Business Meeting.  I also attended the League of American Bicyclists annual insurance meeting where your Accident Insurance and our Liability Insurance is explained.  Later we were able to purchase our Directors and Officers Liability Insurance to protect us from any claims.

Charlene Dorward and I were able to inspect by car a proposed 74 mile route for the Headwaters Century in September.  The route looks good, but we will definitely have some shorter options

Rick Dincola our Ride Captain toured our proposed route for the Daffodil Classic.   He and Harry Simmons plan to mark the route with Dan Henry signage.

I attended the Annual Board Retreat for the ForeverGreenTrails  organization which is a collaboration of Jurisdictions like Pierce County and our club along with Foothills Rails to Trails Coalition.   We also have individuals and business members.

I hope you have some opportunities to get out in February. The Chilly Hilly is Chilly and Hilly if you want a challenge and want to support the big bike club.
