Spiketon Ditch Bridge Update: Nearing Completion

We recently received word from Pierce County Parks that the long-anticipated Spiketon Ditch Bridge replacement project is finally moving forward smoothly and is expected to be completed by mid-September.

Thanks to Tom Butler for reaching out to the county for an update. Tom learned that Ted Yoder, who had been overseeing the project, officially retired at the end of July. While we’re surprised to see Ted step away so close to completion, we appreciate his work on this important connection. A new point of contact should be listed on the Pierce County project page soon.

What It Means for Future Rides

Once the bridge opens, we’ll be able to plan a beautiful route connecting South Prairie, Veazie Junction, and Enumclaw—a scenic stretch that’s been out of reach during construction. This opens up new possibilities for ride planning, including club outings that showcase the full length of the Foothills Trail and beyond.

Headwaters Century & Fall Plans

The Headwaters Century will continue as planned, with our RWGPS routes ready to go for anyone looking to enjoy a scenic early fall ride from Enumclaw.

Stay tuned—we’re one bridge closer to a connected regional trail system!
