Greetings fellow cyclists. I hope you are signed up for the Daffodil Classic Bike Ride on Saturday, April 5 in Orting. This year we are having the ride on the Daffodil Parade day. You will be in the middle of the festival when you return to Orting. We will be providing free pizza at Route 66 about 1 to 1:30 pm.
The Daffodil Parade is about 5 pm if you choose to stay. We will have a fast group, medium group and casual group if you don't want to ride alone. We will leave from the Orting Bell Tower about 9:30 am. You can ride the standard 40 mile course or add on by riding out to South Prairie. You can also just stay on the Foothills Trail. You should sign up on our website and make sure you sign the online waiver.
Our regular Club meeting is on Tuesday, April 8 at 6:00 pm at the Swasey Library at 7001 Sixth Avenue near the Narrows Bridge. We have a special guest coming Tom Butler. Tom is the author of the Cycling over 60 Podcast series. Tom has recorded 100 Episodes these past few years. Tom is working with 2nd Cycle, Cascade Bicycle Club and us to get more older people riding and maintaining their health. Tom has a Masters Degree in Public Health and lives in Enumclaw near the Foothills Trail.
The Tacoma Pierce County Bike Swap is on Saturday April 19 at Tacoma Community College and we will have a booth coordinated by Sue Butkus. There will be food trucks and lots of bikes to look at. There may be a ride from North 26th and Proctor about 9:15 am.
On Sunday April 27, the McClinchy Mile happens on Camano Island. Several Club members will be there again this year. The BIKES of Snohomish is the sponsor. They were our long time partners putting on the Rapsody Ride for ten years. I hope you may be able to attend and support their club.
Thanks for your continued support and happy cycling.
