Darrell Eslinger RIP
Darrell was very involved in our Rapsody ride around Puget Sound which went on for 10 years. In 2016, he was hit from behind by a Lincoln Continental and sustained serious injuries, but he came back over two years of effort.
Darrell led the way for our name change in 2016. In 2017, 66-year-old Darrell helped put on our last big Daffodil Ride. He also helped in our work to present the Town of Eatonville with a big $10,000 check to provide matching funds for the Bud Blancher Trail.
Darrell was very interested in our becoming a Charitable organization. He helped us become a 501C3 in 2017. We had been a 501C7 which is just a club.
We will be having a Memorial ride for Darrell in the near future when we have some nice weather. Darrell was particularly interested in helping new riders feel welcomed and safe. In his honor, we will be putting on Darrell’s Parkway Rides Cyclovia Rides this year. The routes will be safe and avoid roads. We will be using trails like the Foothills Trail and the Scott Pierson Trail to Gig Harbor. If you participate, you will receive a nice Yellow backpack for your effort.
Ride in Paradise Darrell.
Ed: Information on Darrell’s memorial: Darrell Eslinger Memorial March 19 2:30 at University Place Presbyterian Church. Will update if more information becomes available.
