TWBC has joined in a Federal Lobbying effort

TWBC has joined Cascade Bicycle Club and Washington Bikes by adding our endorsement to letters being sent to our Federal Senators and Representatives.

Federal transportation dollars for biking/walking projects are under triple threat:

  • Many awarded grants are currently frozen.
  • Active transportation grant programs are at risk of being eliminated.
  • Projects that would improve biking and walking could be drastically less competitive in future cycles. This includes programs such as RAISE, SMART, Reconnecting Communities, and Safe Streets for All grants -- grants that our communities depend on to fund critical safety improvements to our streets.
These funded projects increase the safety and mobility for everyone traveling in and through Washington, regardless of their mode of transportation. They provide safe, convenient routes for people to walk and bike, which improves community health outcomes, reduces carbon emissions, cuts individual transportation costs, and allows more people to reach their essential, everyday destinations.
