September was full of exciting rides and events for our cycling community. Highlights included the well-marked Headwaters Century Ride, Naomi Herrera's successful Trekfecta ride, and a scenic trip to Lake Easton State Park. We also participated in several conferences, from ForeverGreenTrails' event in University Place to the Washington State Walk and Roll Conference in Tacoma, fostering connections with trail advocates and cycling enthusiasts.
September weather was kind to us cyclists. Thanks to Harry Simmons we had well marked routes for our Headwaters Century Ride on Sunday September 8. There will be a separate story.
Larry Leveen came to our Club meeting and told us his personal bike story and brought us up to date on ForeverGreenTrails activities including his work on the Edgewood Interurban Trail and the Milton Interurban connection.
Larry, Shayla Miles from Foothills Rails to Trails Coalition and I attended the Washington State Walk and Roll Conference in Tacoma put on by Washington Bikes. We enjoyed alot of networking.
Charlene Dorward, Thomas Harrison and I camped at Lake Easton State Park for three nights. We rode to CleElum on the road to Mike's Tavern and took the Palouse to Cascades Trail back. Next day we rode to Hyak. Charlene and I went thru the tunnel and back.
Naomi Herrera put on the first Trekfecta, a fifty mile ride to the three shops. It was a great success with over 30 riders.
ForeverGreenTrails put on their annual Conference in University Place and it was well attended. The theme was Outdoors for All.
Charlene and I went to Southern Oregon for the Ride the Rogue Event. You could choose 20, 40 or 60 miles and it included their paved 12 mile trail. I was so impressed with their organization and their Ride support.
In early October I will attend the Washington State Trails Conference in Wenatchee. I hope to share a new draft route of the Southern branch of the Cross State Trail. I prepared it in conjunction with the new Bridge Opening in Buckley. We had over TWBC members at the Bridge Opening.
I hope to see you at our club meeting on Tuesday October 8.
